RacingBrake has been in search of a brake compound that is easy for customers to choose and use. As a result, we have come out with the ET Series brake pads.

    E = Easy to choose, Easy to use
    T = Tough to wear

  • PERFORMANCE STREET: ET300 - Delivers braking performance beyond the street driving yet with very low dust and no squeaking.
     
  • AGGRESSIVE STREET: ET500, ET700, ET800 - These compounds are offered for the adventurous drivers who:
             - Do not like loud squeaking
             - Do not like a lot of dust
             - Do like extended rotor life

    Being that these pads are streetable, they are not intended for intensive and continuous hard braking over the temperature and speed limit on the race track (see chart below). Otherwise, excessive wear may occur.

     
  • FULL TRACK RACE: ET900 - High torque and high deceleration rate.
    These are dedicated track race pads for serious racers. They offer the ultimate braking performance with the trade off of increased dust, squeaking, and wear rate on pads and rotors. They are NOT to be used for street driving; otherwise you may experience adverse effect such as rotor glazing, and/or excessive wear (scoring) on rotors. Proper break-in and minimum operating temperature (300°F+) are required to achieve optimal performance.

Break-in:
All the brake pads must be bedded in properly per break-in procedure for STREET or TRACK.

Compound Combination:
Although mixing compounds (more aggressive in the front and less aggressive in the rear) is not uncommon, It will increase the brake load to the front and may deviate the OE bias at the same time. For professional or serious racing applications, we recommend installing brake bias adjustment devices rather than mixing compounds to solve the bias issue, in order to achieve optimal brake performance at any racing condition and extend the life of the brake system.

Brake Pad Replacement: Important to know!
Since the brake pad consists of the friction material, insulator, bonding agent, and a steel plate, it must be replaced when the "non-steel" material wears down to approximately the same thickness as the steel back plate or to the grooves in the pad (if applicable) However, since the groove depth varies from one pad manufacturer to another, we do not recommend running the pad thinner than 4mm (0.16") especially for racing applications. This is because the "non-steel" material acts as a heat insulator. As the pad wears down, the wear rate may increase due to the stress caused by the heat cycles. This minimum wear thickness is a checkpoint for pad replacement to prevent severe damage from occuring to the brake system, including rotors and calipers.




Track Only Racing Pads:
Customers are advised that the ET900 compound is for track racing only. For optimal performance they must be bedded in at the track to simulate race conditions. These pads are not suitable for street driving. If used on the street, you may experience adverse effects such as rotor glazing, and/or excessive wear (scoring) on rotors.

Brake Pad Performance:
The overall brake pad performance can be affected by the rotor material and its surface finish, calipers and brake bias.

Brake Pad Life:
Brake pad life (wear rate) can be greatly affected by the operating temperature, duty cycles (intermittent or continuous braking), stopping patterns, and driving style.

ET300
  • Upgrading stock pads to street performance

ET500

  • Great for the street, good for occasional light track events
  • Guaranteed no-fade up to 1000°F / 537°C
  • Very low dust, none to minimal squeaking
ET700
  • HPDE and entry level racing, also good on the street
  • Excellent heat characteristics
  • Guaranteed no-fade up to 1200°F / 648°C
  • Occasional low squeaking on street driving - RB brake shims may be added as needed
ET800
  • Excellent heat characteristics and modulation
  • High temperature, guaranteed no-fade up to 1400°F / 760°C
  • Lower torque and deceleration rate than ET900 series
ET900
  • For motorsports racing only (not recommended for street driving)
  • Excellent heat characteristics and modulation
  • High temperature, guarantee no-fade up to 1600°F / 871°C
  • High torque and high deceleration rate
